Fall Features - TimesDeux Jewelry & Feet First Boots!

Hello All!
It's Hoda here at Feet First Stores positively ecstatic to be doing my first blog post. And what better a topic than jewelry and shoes, right?  I can't think of one either!

It's fall and I just love seeing all of the different lush fall looks strutting down the streets of NOLA. Two things that I am keen to this season are big, beautiful collar necklaces and boots!

The rest of the Feet First girls are no strangers to statement necklaces and gorgeous footwear, either.  In fact, our own manager, Christyn, has been busily working on her own line of repurposed vintage statement necklaces:  Times Deux.  And, as every girl loves a signature piece, every single necklace is exclusively one-of-a-kind, never to be reproduced.  How's that for special?

Christyn, along with Samantha (our website manager), and Anastasia (our merchandising manager), styled and photographed a shoot for her line that wholly embodied the ethereal and eclectic buzz in the air for this Fall/Winter Season.  Once again, the Feet First Family serves up a heaping helping of delicious fashion inspiration!  The result was pure haute bohemian-Orleanian gorgeousness, and we couldn't help but share.

For this look, Samantha is sporting the "Medusa"- a gorgeous statement piece with pink mother-of-pearl abalone shell, emerald undertones and unfinished black onyx beads.  This piece is the perfect marriage of edgy and girly!  Find it here!

To complete your look, throw on a pair of gorgeously luxe Taupe Sesto Meucci Riding Boots from here at Feet First.  Italian-made with the most supple of leather, this will add the perfect polish to your boho look.

Here, Anastasia serves it up with the beautiful "Bouligny" necklace, along with our Lane Stud Rocker boot. This piece is giving me every bit of fall with it's moody emerald green resin, gold metal, and ivory quartz accents.  With a name like Bouligny, it embodies everything NOLA! Find the Bouligny here

Find these Stud Rockers here!

This final and fabulous statement piece called the "Funanza" is hip and "like its namesake, is simply a BONANZA of FUN." This daring tribal piece crafted from abalone shell gives you the pop of color while maintaining style and Grace, just like Samantha does here.

She is also wearing the Corso Como Del Heels featured in a past post, which you can find here!

Whether you are ready to rock your boho-chic wear this fall, or want to keep it simple and cute, these jewelry designs by Christyn are the perfect way to tie any look together and give it that bit of jazz every outfit deserves. Visit her Etsy page here to find all of these pieces and more. Don't forget to head over to Feet First to find all of the fab boots featured and get yourself fall ready!

Painless shoes for an Expecting Woman

Pain is not something enjoyed at all, especially if you're pregnant. It’s particularly hard to find shoes that fit during those nine months. Wearing your regular shoes may cause blisters, pinched toes or just all around discomfort.
So what is the solution?

First, you have to find your new size! Your feet may have swollen a bit so it may be a necessary first step. Also, you may want to come into the store and try some shoes on, instead of or before ordering online.

Second, you have to figure out what kind of shoes you want, whether casual or dressy. Some women may not want to bring out the heels, but others may feel comfortable enough for them. We think comfort is key to finding the perfect shoe. You also want to limit the risk of tripping while you adjust to your new center of gravity, so flat shoes are probably preferred.

Here at Feet First we have some casual shoes that would be perfect to wear while pregnant!

Most of our Born shoes are very comfortable and will satisfy your changing feet plus they are super stylish. Check out these new Molly Ballet Flats which are perfect for fall and oh so cute!

There are some simple yet versatile black Annibell Comfort Flats from Born as well.

Last but not least I would recommend these Born Joanie Comfort Loafers. This chic menswear inspired look is available in brown or black.

These shoes are great for the fall, and in colors that will go with almost any outfit! You don't have to sacrifice style for comfort. These shoes all have comfortable insoles that will give your feet a much needed break if they begin to swell.
But wait! There are more options! (Don't you just love options?)

These Ballasox Prince Corso Cormo Flats are super popular and stylish. The stretchiness of these shoes are a must have for your growing or swelling feet.   These flats can even be folded up in your purse for easy access on those long days on your feet. They are perfect for all day wear and even have a sock lining for moisture absorption, this will keep your feet cool and dry. And Fall Colors are Coming Soon to Feet First!

Also, All our Naot shoes are extremely comfortable and we have an array of them here at our store.

For example, there are these Lucente heels combine casual and dressy with comfort! The stretch fabric across the front allows a flexible and secure motion when walking and also, will adjust to your feet as they change through your pregnancy. These shoes have allowance because your feet, while pregnant may possibly expand due to sodium and water.
There are even more options at our store! Come by and we will be happy to help you find a comfortable shoe (even if you aren't pregnant). Congrats on becoming a mother and Happy Shopping!

Celeberating Culture (and Keeping It Cute) with Feet First!

Bonjour Fashionistas, Gabbi here! I've Missed you guys! Sorry it's been a while since my last post but you knew I wouldn't be gone for long! The Feet First Family would like to send out our humble condolences to the family of world renowned and city loved, Jazz and Blues legend Lionel "Uncle Lionel" Baptiste. He has influenced and helped shape New Orleans culture as we know it today and the city will forever be grateful for that. Being a locally owned business in the city for 35 years we know how much culture and tradition means to our city so, in memory of him I thought it would only be right to blog about some New Orleans culture and what better than the Secondline?!

Courtesy of Nola Pic

Secondlines are traditional brass band parades held in the city, usually on Sundays. The secondline originated from West African circle dances and dances performed in Congo Square by slaves that were given Sundays off. They are now modernly put on by Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs, to celebrate weddings or for jazz funerals. The city will secondlining two weeks straight from the passing of Uncle Lionel on July 8 until his burial on Monday, July 23.

But if you're gonna be apart of the culture you've got to do it with comfort and style. That's where Feet First comes in!

A pair of Keds are great for stepping out. The classic Champion Oxford  from Keds features a canvas upper with lace-up Oxford style, rubber outsole, and cotton lining and insole. The insole features arch support and thick cushioning for comfortable wear. Perfect for dancing right?  The Classic Champion Oxford include to different color laces for versatile style and is available in numerous colors including pink, red, aqua, orange, green, yellow, and black.

Still not enough cushion and support for your bug jumping?  Pair those Keds with some Foot Petals feet cushions! The Killer Cushionz 3/4 Insole, Haute Heelz Bottom of Heel Cushions and Amazing Arches Arch Support Cushions, cushion your entire foot and decrease impact on your heels, legs, and lower back.

And to top it off you can't parade with out a scarf! This fuchsia Saachi scarf features a rich, multi-colored pattern reminiscent of a beautiful watercolor painting. Have an Indian made, Saachi scarf accompany you, while keeping you cool,(and swing it over your head) at any secondline and you're bound to be stepping in style.

You can get all these comfy styles locally or online at feetfirststores.com. And if you want to immerse into some more culture check out our Nola Couture items!

Just a Little Treat from Sam Edelman himself!

Hola Fashionistas, Gabbi here! I'm sorry to say there's no 'Trend Alert!' this week but don't worry I've made it up to you with a little treat. I know that many of you guys and gals that follow the Feet First blog love Sam Edelman just as much as I do so, I've decided to give you a couple of summer outfit ideas from the man himself! On the Sam Edelman Official Blog last week, five outfit ideas were posted for bringing in the summer right. I'll be  helping you recreate those looks with some of Sam Edelman's sassy shoes featured in the Spring/Summer 2012 collection  and a couple of our super hot accessories available online or at your local Feet First. You can check out the original blog post and more cute summer fits here.

Here Mr. Edelman has paired up the cult-classic, thong-style, Gigi sandal with a long, orange, maxi dress, a gold necklace and a brown leather, fringe crossbody handbag. This fit is cute and comfy so it'll be great to run errands and shoot the breeze in!

Here I've paired the same sandal, The Gigi but with a different styled necklace. The Circle Crochet Necklace, designed by Nakamol Designs, features a circular design with mustard and brown beads woven into the pattern on a fabric chain, for comfort and finished with a gold clasp, for security.

Next he's paired The Yelena, an eye popping, color block heel, with a short, floral, double strapped dress, an almost neon colored blazer, and a studded and spiked handbag. This outfit is fab for a night on the town or a first date!

For some alternatives to this look I decided to add the coral instead of silver Yelena by Sam Edelman, a pair of brown and gold dangling earrings, and a round, antique, adjustable, gold ring, both designed by Escape From Paris, to dazzle things up a bit.

And  the last outfit I'll show from the official Sam Edelman Blog pairs a pair of the gold, Gracie flip flop with a white necklace, a brown purse and a tribal print romper, which is a really popular print this season.

Personally, I wasn't crazy about the white necklace with gold flip flops and a brown handbag so, I decided to go with the silver Gracie and a pair of Petal Silver Hoops and the Bowen Long Chain Necklace, both designed by Gorjana.

Well I hope this will suffice until next week's "Trend Alert!", which I promise you'll have!
BTW we just got a BRAND SPANKING NEW shipment of Sam Edelmans in so check them out online!

 Happy Shopping!
