Painless shoes for an Expecting Woman

Pain is not something enjoyed at all, especially if you're pregnant. It’s particularly hard to find shoes that fit during those nine months. Wearing your regular shoes may cause blisters, pinched toes or just all around discomfort.
So what is the solution?

First, you have to find your new size! Your feet may have swollen a bit so it may be a necessary first step. Also, you may want to come into the store and try some shoes on, instead of or before ordering online.

Second, you have to figure out what kind of shoes you want, whether casual or dressy. Some women may not want to bring out the heels, but others may feel comfortable enough for them. We think comfort is key to finding the perfect shoe. You also want to limit the risk of tripping while you adjust to your new center of gravity, so flat shoes are probably preferred.

Here at Feet First we have some casual shoes that would be perfect to wear while pregnant!

Most of our Born shoes are very comfortable and will satisfy your changing feet plus they are super stylish. Check out these new Molly Ballet Flats which are perfect for fall and oh so cute!

There are some simple yet versatile black Annibell Comfort Flats from Born as well.

Last but not least I would recommend these Born Joanie Comfort Loafers. This chic menswear inspired look is available in brown or black.

These shoes are great for the fall, and in colors that will go with almost any outfit! You don't have to sacrifice style for comfort. These shoes all have comfortable insoles that will give your feet a much needed break if they begin to swell.
But wait! There are more options! (Don't you just love options?)

These Ballasox Prince Corso Cormo Flats are super popular and stylish. The stretchiness of these shoes are a must have for your growing or swelling feet.   These flats can even be folded up in your purse for easy access on those long days on your feet. They are perfect for all day wear and even have a sock lining for moisture absorption, this will keep your feet cool and dry. And Fall Colors are Coming Soon to Feet First!

Also, All our Naot shoes are extremely comfortable and we have an array of them here at our store.

For example, there are these Lucente heels combine casual and dressy with comfort! The stretch fabric across the front allows a flexible and secure motion when walking and also, will adjust to your feet as they change through your pregnancy. These shoes have allowance because your feet, while pregnant may possibly expand due to sodium and water.
There are even more options at our store! Come by and we will be happy to help you find a comfortable shoe (even if you aren't pregnant). Congrats on becoming a mother and Happy Shopping!

Celeberating Culture (and Keeping It Cute) with Feet First!

Bonjour Fashionistas, Gabbi here! I've Missed you guys! Sorry it's been a while since my last post but you knew I wouldn't be gone for long! The Feet First Family would like to send out our humble condolences to the family of world renowned and city loved, Jazz and Blues legend Lionel "Uncle Lionel" Baptiste. He has influenced and helped shape New Orleans culture as we know it today and the city will forever be grateful for that. Being a locally owned business in the city for 35 years we know how much culture and tradition means to our city so, in memory of him I thought it would only be right to blog about some New Orleans culture and what better than the Secondline?!

Courtesy of Nola Pic

Secondlines are traditional brass band parades held in the city, usually on Sundays. The secondline originated from West African circle dances and dances performed in Congo Square by slaves that were given Sundays off. They are now modernly put on by Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs, to celebrate weddings or for jazz funerals. The city will secondlining two weeks straight from the passing of Uncle Lionel on July 8 until his burial on Monday, July 23.

But if you're gonna be apart of the culture you've got to do it with comfort and style. That's where Feet First comes in!

A pair of Keds are great for stepping out. The classic Champion Oxford  from Keds features a canvas upper with lace-up Oxford style, rubber outsole, and cotton lining and insole. The insole features arch support and thick cushioning for comfortable wear. Perfect for dancing right?  The Classic Champion Oxford include to different color laces for versatile style and is available in numerous colors including pink, red, aqua, orange, green, yellow, and black.

Still not enough cushion and support for your bug jumping?  Pair those Keds with some Foot Petals feet cushions! The Killer Cushionz 3/4 Insole, Haute Heelz Bottom of Heel Cushions and Amazing Arches Arch Support Cushions, cushion your entire foot and decrease impact on your heels, legs, and lower back.

And to top it off you can't parade with out a scarf! This fuchsia Saachi scarf features a rich, multi-colored pattern reminiscent of a beautiful watercolor painting. Have an Indian made, Saachi scarf accompany you, while keeping you cool,(and swing it over your head) at any secondline and you're bound to be stepping in style.

The Rockwell Tharp boots we now carry are as unique and fun as their mission!

Co-founders Kristi Rockwell and Cameron Tharp shared the dream of making a difference in people’s lives through helping those in need and empowering women through fashion so they united to bring the world their high end designer boots, shoes, belts, and handbags.  Their boots are hand-crafted with unique embroidered stitching in elegant designs and soft, natural leather lining.  Every single one of the embroidered boots are one of a kind!

In December 2011, Rockwell Tharp took their goal of empowering women one step further.  They teamed up with Childhelp, an International organization founded in the 1950s, to sell boots that benefited the non-profit.  Rockwell Tharp designed a special Childhelp Boot and produced only 1000 pairs.  Each pair they sold donated $200 to Childhelp.

Bloom This Season with the New Nude: Rose Gold!

TREND ALERT!

Hi Ladies! Rose Gold has been popping up everywhere these past few seasons from jewelry lines, make up palettes and now S H O E S! In the 90s yellow gold was the thing to bling but as the new millennium rolled in sliver took its place. But, that's all about to change.

Along with our Rose Gold shoes you can take a look at our Gorjana Look book in store and order some custom Rose Gold jewelry to match!

Here's a How-To video, by Samantha, featuring some of our adorable sandals and flats available on our online store and at your local Feet First retail shop!

The first sandal Samantha shows in the Feet First Trend Alert: Rose Gold How-To video is the Bernardo Miami New Metallic Women's Sandal. This has become a store favorite and is great for having some fun in the sun or shooting the breeze around town!

.
Next, Samantha shows one of my personal favorites, The Gigi by Sam Edelman. This cult classic, thong styled sandal goes great with a cute maxi dress and the glitter accent on the front will make any pair of jeans POP!

Topping things off, Samantha ends with the Friar Perforated Ballet Flat by Corso Como.  This comfy, ballet flat, with leather lining is great to wear all year round and its all around perforation allows your feet to breathe!
And just for you guys, here's another sandal by Corso Como that isn't featured in the video but is bound to turn heads! The Future Sandal is super chic with a cushioned sole and leather straps that'll set off any summer look!

So set your style into bloom and pick up a pair (or two) of Rose Gold sandals or flats from the Feet First Online Store or your local Feet First!

Have A Great Memorial Day Weekend and Happy Shopping!

Lane Boots: Made For Walkin', in Style!

Happy Festival Season, Fashionistas!

Julia wrote a great post about how to's for optimal festing in style, and from it, I was inspired to take my pick of her shoe suggestions: Lane Boots!

image provided by missfancythreads.com
Cowboy boots, however distinct and structured in silhouette, are actually quite versatile and can pair expertly with a flirty skirt just as naturally as a pair of your favorite jeans.  Admittedly, I have yet to buy some myself, but having been raised in Fort Worth, TX for a majority of my life, I still hope to one day own a rootin'-tootin' pair of boots!

By far, Lane Boots are the most uniquely designed, 'fashion forward' boots I've ever seen!

These make me think of a dear childhood friend, who is getting married very soon!
Congratulations, Marci and Dan! xo

After researching a little more about the brand, I learned that Lane Boots began manufacturing their signature footwear in 2007, their designers come from all over the country, i.e. Chicago, IL, Jackson Hole, WY, and even my hometown of Fort Worth, and they only use genuine leather, hand-crafted in Mexico.  If that isn't enough for you in the cool department, they're also philanthropic!  They donate to Communities in School,  an organization based in Greater Tarrant County (my hometown strikes again!), for every pair of boots sold through their website - now how awesome is that?

If my little sister wore cowboy boots, I have a feeling these would suit her just fine ;)

As for myself, I want a pair that can go with pretty much anything that's already in my wardrobe, so I really dig the Lane Embossed Women's Cowboy Boots in Brown! I love the detail in the piping, and the brightly colored outer sole, signature to their boots, is just the cherry on top!

Gotta have a pair?  Why wait?  Come on by a Feet First Store location near YOU or visit our Lane Boots selection online, and get your dream pair of cowboy boots today!

Thanks for reading, and as always, Happy Shopping! xo

Festin' with Feet First

Festival season is here! We are smack in the middle of festivals focused around music, dancing, eating, and fun. Many of the festivals are fast approaching, so below are some tips and tricks for the festivals coming up, including Hangout Fest this weekend in Gulf Shores, AL.

What to bring:
- A water bottle (preferably frozen) so you can refill and save a few bucks
- A plastic bag to protect your belongings if there’s any chance of rain in the forecast
- A folding chair (if permitted or necessary) - it’s tough to stand up for hours on end, even with comfortable shoes
- Sunblock! This is a must, even for those who don’t think they will burn
- An open mind - some of the best moments will be the ones you don’t expect

- Toilet paper in case the port-o-potties run out
- Hand sanitizer
- An appetite - there will be most likely be food vendors at many of the festivals that you won’t want to miss

What to wear:
We all want to be as cute and comfortable during festivals throughout the year, but keep in mind that your shoes might get a little dirty in the process. Wear an outfit that can stand the heat and shoes that will last for hours without killing your feet! Below are some of Feet First's festival suggestions.
